The Perfect Passport Photo: Your Outfit Guide

Oh, passport photos. We've all had that awkward moment, right? I still cringe at the memory of renewing my passport with my curls covering my forehead. I had no clue that your hair couldn’t be over your face. So the guy at Walgreens who took my photo told me to brush my hair away from my face and well I looked... let's say 'unique', and the poor guy felt so terrible that he handed me the passport photo for free. Yeah, I'm still stuck with that goofy photo.

To save you from sharing this mistake, I've put together a little guide to help you know exactly what to wear for your passport photo. Let's help you nail that picture-perfect shot!

Best Color To Wear For A Passport Photo

Believe it or not, the color of your clothes matters quite a bit in your passport photo. White or light colors can wash you out or blend in with the background, so they're generally best avoided. Darker colors, on the other hand, provide a nice contrast and make you stand out against the white background. If you have a favorite navy blue or black top, now's the time to break it out.

Can You Wear A T-Shirt For A Passport Photo

Passport photos are all about your lovely face, not your outfit. So avoid wearing anything with large, distracting patterns or logos. Instead, opt for simple, solid colors. A classic, unadorned top will work wonders and keep the focus where it should be—on you.

How To Wear Your Hair For A Passport Photo

I speak from experience here. Your hair should not cover your face or eyes. Keep it simple and neat. If you have bangs or long hair, make sure it's not hanging into your eyes or obscuring your features. And remember, headbands and large hair accessories are a no-go for passport photos. A Sleek bun will now be my top recommendation paired with minimal earrings.

Can You Wear Jewelry In A Passport Photo

While small, unobtrusive jewelry is generally acceptable, avoid anything too flashy or large. The same goes for glasses. If you normally wear them, you can keep them on, but be sure there's no glare on the lenses.

And there you have it, a quick guide to ensure you're dressed perfectly for your passport photo.
